About the Company
The KRATE Cloud is backed by Krate Distributed Information Systems, Incorporated (Krate, Inc.), a business established under the Saskatchewan Business Corporations Act on November 21st, 2017, and headquartered in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in Canada.
Krate is responsible for the initial development of the KRATE Cloud in order to ensure a quality of software development that exceeds regulatory requirements. After the initial release of the KRATE Cloud, the project will be opened to the community to permit and promote continued development and contribution to the code base.
Krate will continue to oversee the project – not as a corporate owner but rather as a curator. In this capacity, Krate will be a contributor to the KRATE Cloud the same as any community member but with the added support of its advisors and partners.
About our founders
Michael and Caitlin Thoreson, our founders, have suffered for over a decade from damages caused by data breaches which have led to multiple identity thefts, name changes, and inaccurate information on credit reports.
This motivated them to find a solution, and when one couldn’t be found, they decided to make one. In May 2016, Michael started architecting a solution that would allow our data-driven world to function without sacrificing privacy or control of your data.
In November 2017, Krate Distributed Information Systems was launched to introduce to the world the KRATE Cloud: a cloud marketplace for self-sovereign identity, compute, storage, and network resources.
